Minutes from Wednesday, November 20th

We're nearly there! The SIP Team has nearly completed the District Improvement and School Improvement Plans. Help from all of the SIP Team's committees and the Leadership Team (THANK YOU!) have helped to expedite the process. We had to hold an emergancy meeting on November 20th to review action plans. Below are the minutes and information shared from the meeting. Please leave your comments and/or responses:

Celebrations:

J. Gonzales reported that she has organized a literary festival.

M. Felde reported that she attended an amazingly productive RtI conference on November 12, 2008.

  • According to our School Report Card Data, District 234 is not making AYP in the area of reading. District 234 will meet, at minimum, Safe Harbor every year until AYP is met.
  • According to our School Report Card Data, District 234 is making AYP in the area of mathematics. District 234 will continue to meet AYP in the area of mathematics.
  • According to our local data, District 234 currently does not have significant behavioral issues. District 234 will continue to monitor school and classroom behavior to maintain a positive school environment.
  • According to our local data, there is a need for greater community involvement. District 234 will continue current practices and implement additional strategies to improve community involvement.

M. Felde: Presentation on RtI Action Plan


The RtI Team will research and investigate best practice curricular strategies for Tier 1 instruction.

The RtI Team will research and investigate Tier 2 best practice strategies and interventions for reading, math and behavioral strategies.

The RtI Team will research and investigate Tier 3 best practice strategies and interventions for reading, math, and behavioral strategies.

The RtI Team will research and investigate universal screening and progress monitoring tools.

The RtI team will create the vision, mission, goals, and logistics of the Problem Solving Team.

The RtI team will continue to use AIMsweb to progress monitor the special education population.

The RtI team will write the finalized RtI District Plan and have the School Board approve the plan.

The RtI team will order and purchase the decided upon materials and resources for Tier 1, 2, & 3 interventions.

The RtI will provide professional development and training to teachers and staff who will be implementing best practice strategies determined after board approval of the plan.

District 234 will implement the RtI plan; including tiered interventions, problem solving team, universal screening and progress monitoring tools, and professional development.

The RtI team will monitor and modify District 234’s RtI plan as needed.
